Youth Formation
At Sacred Heart Parish we realize, as the Holy Father has stated, that "Parents are the first and most important educators of their own children," and that "one area in which the family has an irreplaceable role is that of religious education." (Letter to Families from Pope John Paul II) Thus, our youth formation programs strive to assist parents in forming their children in the Catholic Faith. Parents who wish to have their children participate in any aspect of the Youth Formation programs need to register at the Religious Formation Office located on the second floor of the Parish Office during regular business hours.
Stewardship
The members of Sacred Heart Parish have an obligation to support the parish. One of the ways families provide this support is through the registration fee for the Religious Formation Program (K-9). This required fee covers part of the cost to the parish for instructional materials, textbooks, office supplies, and printing. The registration fees are as follows:
Checks can be made payable to Sacred Heart Parish (with "Religious Formation" written in the "memo" line). Fees can be mailed to the parish, dropped off at the Religious Formation Office during the week or during class on Wednesday nights. If the fee creates an undue financial hardship, please contact the Religious Formation Office. No one will be turned away based on inability to pay.
Stewardship in the form of time and talent are also needed. As stewards of the gifts that God gives us, we need to give to the parish from our time and talents, as well as from our treasure. There are many areas in the Religious Formation Program where the talents of parents are greatly appreciated-such as catechists, aides, substitutes, office help, etc.
Is God calling you to minister to our youth?
Passing on the Catholic Faith to our youth is one of the spiritual works of mercy. Catechists you will bring the unchanging light of Christ to youth in new ways, opening up opportunities for them to respond to His grace. Our Religious Formation Board desires two catechists in each class to increase the effectiveness of this ministry and aid to all catechists. This will provide you with a partner to share teaching with as well as help improve classroom management. We will provide you with archdiocesan training, resources, encouragement, ongoing support, and lots of prayers!
Please contact Marilyn Kathol at 371-8658 to find out more about this wonderful opportunity to serve Christ in others.
